Odrisamer Despaigne tossed six innings of eight-hit, three-run ball during Ciudad Obregón’s 7-6 win over the Charros de Jalisco. The righty from Havana also notched his first victory of the winter in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico and fanned three batters. After three starts in the Mexican circuit the hurler sports a 4.20 earned run average.
Despaigne, who started on Opening Day for Ciudad Obregón figures to be a workhorse and the ace for the tribe. The Cuban also represented México in the 2023 Serie del Caribe in Miami.
Richard Guasch tossed a scoreless inning in relief to help the Caribes de Anzoátegui defeat the Cardenales de Lara by the count of 3-1 during their game in Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional. The reliever has not allowed a run in 4⅔ innings and struck out nine so far on the campaign.
