Cardinals prospect César Prieto will make his return to the Dominican Winter League and the Águilas Cibaeñas on November 1st as per a report by the colleague Francys Romero. The third baseman played with ballclub last year hitting a solid .292 in 15 games.
Prieto who was one of the heroes of the clubs sweep of hated arch-rival the Tigres del Licey in last season’s Serie de los Titanes held in New York’s Citi Field will add some pop to an Águilas” lineup that was lacking it. New manager Yadier Molina looks forward to the team’s new acquisition and will likely pair him with Cuban-American slugger JC Escarra, who joined the Águilas this evening.
During the regular season Prieto was in the St. Louis Cardinals’ farm system with Memphis Redbirds (AAA) and slashed .279/.318/.445/.763. The infielder also swatted 14 longballs and drove in 56 runs over 129 games last campaign. Look for Prieto to use his time in the LIDOM to prepare him for the upcoming spring.
