Yordan Nodal notches his first win in the LBPN.

Yordan Nodal made his first appearance in a winter league by tossing five innings of four-hit, one-run ball during Chinandega’s 11-8 win over León. The right-hander also fanned four and walked four to lead the felines to a win and left his first start win 1.80 earned run average in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Nicaragüense.

Also in Nicaragua Rusney Castillo and Yosmany Guerra combined for four hits, three runs scored and one RBI to do their part in the Gigantes de Rivas’ 5-4 win over El Tren del Norte. The infielder and outfielder now hit .400 apiece after the first game in the circuit.

In the LVBP Yasiel Puig collected two hits in four trips to the plate, while also scoring a run in La Guaira’s 3-2 loss to Magallanes.  The outfielder saw his average rise to .275 on the campaign. Although he took the loss  Erlys Casanova threw four innings in which he gave up two runs via eight hits and struck out two.
