JC Escarra belted a key two-run shot in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Águilas Cibaeñas to a 4-1 win over arch-rival Tigres del Licey. The Cuban-American has been a key bat for the squad from Santiago that clinging to the fourth and last spot in their hunt for a playoff birth.
Also in the LIDOM, José Barrero went yard for the third time on the season and drove in two runs via his fourth inning longball during the Estrellas Orientales 9-8 defeat at the hands of the Gigantes del Cibao. The power-hitting infielder watched his average rise to .213 on the season and has come alive since the Choque de Gigantes.
Rangel Ravelo collected three hits in four trips to the plate, knocked in two runs and also scored on two occasions in Lara’s 7-5 loss at the hands of the Bravos de Las Islas Margaritas. The first baseman who is hitting .292 is also fourth in the LVBP with 23 runs batted in on the campaign.
Alay Lago knocked in three runs via a third inning solo-homer and an eighth inning two-run single to lead El Tren del Norte to a 7-6 win over the Indios de Bóer in the LBPN. The 2022 league MVP watched his average rise to .375 on the season after seven games.
