José Ramón Rodríguez tossed five innings in which he gave up a run via four hits and struck out a batter to notch his third victory of the campaign during Anzoátegui’s 6-3 win over La Guaira. The right-hander from Camagüey, Cuba saw his earned run average on the campaign in the LVBP.
In the LBPRC Yanquiel Fernández collected a hit in four trips to the plate and knocked in a run to do his part in Ponce’s 5-4 win over Santurce. The Colorado Rockies’ prospect saw his average rise to .205 and has now driven five runs on the season. Fernández has now played two seasons with the ballclub.
In the Liga ARCO Luis Aviles Jr swatted two hits, one of the being a two-run sixth inning double to break open a Mazatlán 8-4 win over Mexicali. The infielder has been an offensive juggernaut for the ballclub hitting a gaudy .347 and has knocked in 16 runs on the campaign.
In Nicaragua Maikel Serrano and Alay Lago combined for five hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored to lead El Tren del Norte to a 10-6 triumph over the Tigres de Chinandega. The two Cuban sluggers now hitting .339 and .455 respectively on the season.
