Yasmany Tomás went yard for the sixth time on the season, a two-run third inning shot to pace Los Mochis during their 7-4 win over the Mayos de Navojoa. The slugger from Havana has also knocked in 24 runs and saw his average rise to .208 on the season. Roel Santos also aided the cause with a hit and two runs batted in on the night.
Although Carlos Espinosa took the loss the Cuban hurler continues to deal in the LBPRC. The right-hander tossed five innings in which he allowed two earned runs via two hits and fanned eight during Mayagüez’s 3-0 blanking at the hands of Santurce in the first game of a doubleheader. Espinosa in 17⅓ sports a nifty 2.08 earned run average.
Also in the LBPRC Adeiny Hechavarría swatted two hits and knocked in two runs to do his part in Carolina’s 11-5 thrashing of the Senadores de San Juan. The infielder from Santiago de Cuba saw his average rise to .146 on the campaign.
In the LIDOM César Prieto and JC Escarra combined for three hits and three runs batted in during the Águilas Cibaeñas 11-3 walloping of the Leones del Escogido. The two Cubans, who have been a key reason for the team’s resurgence as of late hit .250 and .286 on the season respectively.
