Norge Ruiz tossed 7⅔ innings of eight-hit, three-run ball to lead Monterrey to a 17-3 thrashing of Los Mochis. The right-hander from Camagüey, Cuba also fanned four and notched his first victory of the season in the Liga ARCO. Ruiz also saw his ERA descend to 4.71 and had his second quality start in sequence.
José Barrero knocked a run via a fifth inning sacrifice fly, collected a hit and also scored a run to do his part in the Estrellas Orientales’ 3-0 blanking of the Leones del Escogido in the LIDOM. The Cuban shortstop also raised his RBI total to 16 on the campaign.
In Venezuela José Ramón Rodríguez pitched five scoreless innings in which he only surrendered two hits and retired four via the strikeout. The hurler won his fourth game of the season and now sports a 4.36 earned run average on the season. The righty is third in the LVBP in win (4) and eighth in strikeouts (20).
