Roenis Elías continues to dominate since a bad first start in the Liga ARCO. Although Monterrey fell to Hermosillo 5-4 the southpaw was solid off the hill tossing six innings of seven-hits, three-run ball to secure his second quality start of the campaign. Elías also fanned three and now sports a 2.84 earned run average on the season.
Victor Labrada has caught fire since he came over to Monterrey. The outfielder is hitting .294 in nine games with the Mexican squad. In last night’s action the Cuban speedster went 3-for-5 with a double to aid his countrymen. Diosbel Arias also did his part by driving in a run in four trips to the plate.
Yadiel Hernández collected two hits in five at-bats, including a a sixth inning two-run blast to seal a Mexicali 10-2 thrashing of the Cañeros de Los Mochis. The slugger has now gone yard three times and upped his average to .224 on the season.
In the LVBP Frank Medina continues to shine in a middle relief role. In last night’s 7-3 loss by Aragua to the Lara the Cuban right-hander tossed two innings of shutout ball in which he only allowed a hit and watched his ERA descend to a solid 2.84 on the campaign in the Venezuelan circuit.
