Vladimir Gutierrez has signed with the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón to help reinforce their pitching staff before the upcoming Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico. He will team with his countrymen Odrisamer Despaigne to lead the team’s pitching corps in the postseason.
Gutierrez started the winter with the Águilas Cibaeñas of the LIDOM. In 11 starts with the Dominican squad he posted a 3-3 record, 4.23 earned run average and fanned 40 strikeouts in 44⅔. The right-hander from Pinar del Río, Cuba is 5-9 with a 3.81 in three winter league season with Licey and the Águilas.
In the reinforcement draft pitchers Norge Ruiz (Algodoneros de Guasave) and Roenis Elías (Charros de Jalisco), while outfielder Víctor Labrada was selected by the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón will suit up with these teams for the upcoming playoffs. Ruiz (2-5,4.79), Elías (1-1,2.45) and Labrada (.306,4HR,12RBI ) fugure to play big roles with their new teams.
