Outfielder Andy Martín will return to Japan for the 2025 season, continuing his career in the Chiba Lotte Marines’ farm system. The 24-year-old is set to report to the team’s training camp this week.
Martín made his debut in Japan in 2024, appearing in 33 games for Chiba Lotte’s farm team. He hit .278 (22-for-79) with seven doubles, one home run, and eight RBIs. He also showcased his speed, successfully stealing three bases in as many attempts.
His Chiba debut came on July 3 as a pinch hitter in the ninth. The next day, he started as the designated hitter, batting seventh in an Eastern League game against the Yomiuri Giants at ZOZO Marine Stadium, picking up two hits and a stolen base.
In addition to his time with the Marines, Martín played in Japan’s independent Baseball Challenge League (BCL) with the Ibaraki Astro Planets. He hit .216 with three home runs and nine RBIs, including a grand slam.
The younger brother of former NPB All-Star Leonys Martín, Andy will look to build on his first season in Japan as he continues his development within the Marines’ system. He is represented by A&F Sports Agency.
