Yordan Álvarez has been ranked the top left fielder on MLB Network’s Top 10 Right Now for the third consecutive season (2023-2025). The Houston Astros slugger continues to establish himself as one of the game’s elite hitters.
Since 2021, Yordan ranks third in OPS+ at 165, trailing only Shohei Ohtani (169) and Aaron Judge (191). In 2024, he hit .308—the highest since his 2019 rookie season (.313)—with a .959 OPS, 172 OPS+, 35 home runs, and 86 RBIs. His 5.4 WAR was the second-highest of his career.
Álvarez played 53 games in left field and 94 games as the designated hitter in 2024. He was selected as the American League’s starting DH for the third straight All-Star Game, earned All-MLB Second Team honors at DH, and finished in the top 10 of MVP voting.
On August 6, Álvarez hit his 150th career home run in just 590 games, setting a franchise record by reaching the milestone 133 games faster than any other player in Astros history.
In 2024, Álvarez ranked near the top of the American League in several key categories among qualified batters. He finished fourth in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS, and ranked third in OPS+ (172). He also led the Astros in several offensive stats, including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, doubles, home runs, RBIs, walks, and total bases.
On April 27, in Mexico City, Álvarez launched two home runs that traveled over 460 feet in a 12-4 win against the Colorado Rockies. He later hit for his first career cycle on July 21st against the Seattle Mariners.
Álvarez also became just the second player in Astros history with four consecutive 30-homer seasons and is projected to extend that streak in 2025.
