Two Cubans sign contracts with the Liga Mayor.

Yesterday two signings of Cuban players came to light when the Samanes de Aragua and Lideres de Miranda of the LMBP announced the acquisition of pitcher César García and infielder Dayán García, both of whom play in the Cuban Serie Nacional.

With the signing of García Aragua acquires an experienced pitcher with plenty of experience in the National Series and an impressive performance during the Serie del Caribe with Agricultores in 2023. During that tournament in Caracas and La Guaira the right-hander posted a 2.08 earned run average in 13 innings pitched with the Cuban squad.

In 11 seasons with Granma in the Serie Nacional the hurler has a 48-33 record with a 3.65 ERA and 323 strikeouts in 736 ⅔ innings pitched. With César García’s addition the Samanes acquire another experienced Cuban veteran to bolster their staff. Last season the club added José Ramón Rodríguez.

In the case of Dayán García, no relation, Miranda signs a potent bat that has seen action in the Winter Leagues and was a member of the Cuban National Team during the 2023 World Baseball Classic. The slugger has slash line of .325/.387/.472/.859 with 92 homeruns and 568 runs batted in over 12 seasons primarily with Artemisa.

García saw action in the Liga Nicaragüense de Béisbol Profesional in 2023 hitting .323 with five longballs, 25 RBIs and slashed .406/.517/.923 with the Tigres de Chinandega. Look for the third baseman to be a force to reckoned with the Liga Mayor de Béisbol Profesional.
