Dairon Blanco does his part in a KC win. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Dairon Blanco collected a hit in an at-bat, drew a walk and scored a run to do his part in Kansas City’s 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers to open the spring. The outfielder is looking to expand on a season in which he stole 31 bases in a 120 at-bats.

Blanco is the favorite to win the fourth outfielder in the battle this spring for the position. With a good camp and a little luck Blanco might climb the depth chart. The speedster could also be the designated pinch-runner in key late-inning situations.

Yanquiel Fernández laced a double and scored a run in four trips to the plate during Colorado’s 12-8 victory over the Diamondbacks. The highly touted prospect has a .250 average after his opening game of the spring. Fernández hit a lowly .177 with Ponce this winter in the LBPRC.
