Yohandy Morales swatted a run-scoring eighth-inning double to do his part in the Nationals’ 11-6 thrashing of the Mets. The Cuban-American infielder is hitting a solid .333 to start spring training. Expect Morales to start the season in AA this season and with a good performance could inch his way towards the majors by seasons end.
Yanquiel Fernández had a perfect day at the plate collecting two hits and as many at-bats, while also driving in a run during Colorado’s split squad 6-1 win over the Brewers. After a bad winter at the plate the Cuban slugger has turned heads to start camp hitting a robust .375.
Andy Ibáñez laced a double, drove in a run and scored a run in two trips to the plate on the day. For the multi-talented Cuban it was his first run batted in of the spring and in the eyes of many he has the inside track for the utility role for the Tigers based on his ability to play a vast array of positions in the infield and outfield.
