Yuli Gurriel homers in a Padres’ win . (+Cuban MLB Report)

Yuli Gurriel went yard on the first time on the spring and knocked in four runs in a Padres 14-8 drubbing of the Milwaukee Brewers. The first baseman is hitting .296 on the preseason and is looking good in his fight for a roster spot with San Diego.

Randy Arozarena swatted two hits in five trips to the dish and also scored two runs, but Seattle fell to Oakland 7-6. The diminutive but powerful outfielder is now hitting a sparkling .310 on the spring. Arozarena is looking to start strong after a lackluster start last season.

Dairon Blanco collected a hit and scored a run to do his part in Kansas City’s 12-1 walloping of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The speedster is hitting a solid .333 on the preseason and is in good position to claim the fourth outfielder spot with Joey Weimer and Michael Massey.

Orlando Ribalta continues to look good in his fight for a roster spot. In yesterday’s action the right-hander tossed 1⅓ in which he gave up two hits and no runs, while also fanning two batters in Washington’s 6-2 loss to St. Louis. The reliever now sports a 2.38 ERA in 11⅓ innings of work this spring.
