The San Diego Padres earned their second win of the season with a narrow 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves at PETCO Park with more than 41,000 fans. For the winners, Mayabeque native Adrián Morejón pitched 1.2 innings without allowing a hit, struck out one batter, and walked one.
The lefty threw 23 pitches, 13 of them strikes (57%). He tossed 14 sinkers, five sliders, three cutters, and one fastball. He reached a topped out at 98.5 mph with his sinker, with which he averaged 97.2 mph. Batters swung at his pitches 10 times and missed three times (whiffs).
Daysbel Hernández pitched a scoreless inning for the Braves in a losing cause. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit and struck out one batter (Xander Bogaerts). He needed just seven pitches to complete the inning, using four sliders and three fastballs. He clocked 98.3 mph with the fastball and 89.1 mph with the slider.
