Adolis García went yard for the second day in a row, a sixth inning solo-shot to do his part in Texas’s 3-2 triumph over the Red Sox. The outfielder from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba has now driven in four runs on the young season. García is slugging a robust 1.000 to open up the year.
After a disastrous first appearance, Yariel Rodríguez redeem himself by notching his first hold of the season. The Cuban right-hander fanned two of the four batters he faced to help secure Toronto’s 3-1 victory over Baltimore. Rodríguez’s ERA fell to 13.50 on the season.
Jorge Soler drove in a run via a sacrifice fly and swatted a double in three trips to the plate during the Angels 3-2 win over the White Sox. The Cuban slugger knocked in his first run on the campaign and saw his average rise to .222.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr went yard for the first time on season, drove in two runs and also scored once to pace Arizona’s 10-6 victory versus the Cubs. The youngest of the Gurriel clan has now driven in three runs to open the season.
