JC Escarra took center stage last night when he lifted a tenth inning sacrifice fly to lead the Yankees to a 5-4 win over the Padres in the Bronx. For the Cuban-American catcher it was his first walk-off as a professional and only his fourth RBI as a big leaguer. Escarra’s feel good story and perseverance has won over the Bomber’s faithful.
Adolis García swatted his fifth longball of the season, a solo-shot in the fourth and also drove in a run during via a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning during Texas’ 6-4 loss to the Red Sox. The outfielder is hitting a scorching .348 over his last seven games.
For the winners Aroldis Chapman notched his five save of the season although he gave up a run via a roundtripper in the ninth inning. The Cuban left-hander saw his ERA descend to 2.19 on the season.
Yoán Moncada homered for the second day in a row and Jorge Soler knocked in three runs via two hits including a walk-off double to pace Los Angeles to a 5-4 win over Toronto. Moncada upped his average to .250, while Soler has now driven in 16 runs on the year.
