Rusney Castillo homers twice in a Conspiradores victory. (+Mexican League Report)

Last night’s game between Querétaro and Tabasco had a clear protagonist from the very beginning, it was Ciego de Ávila native Rusney Castillo, who hit seventh in the order and was the right fielder. The slugger hit his second home run of the season and first of the night with Kelvin Gutiérrez on base.

Then, in the fifth inning, Castillo cranked his second home run of the night and third in consecutive at-bats, adding to the one he swatted in the tenth inning of Wednesday’s game to give the Conspiradores the win. Both home runs were hit off his countrymen pitcher Yoennis Yera, who was the starter for the Olmecas.

Yera allowed four hits but two of them were Castillo’s home runs. The lefty also issued no walks, and struck out six batters. The hurler who took the loss on the evening and his second of the campaign, also saw his ERA rise to a still solid 3.26 on the year.
