Yariel Rodríguez threw 1⅓ innings of scoreless baseball in which he retired two batters via the strikeout during Toronto’s 9-1 thrashing of the Mariners. The flamethrowing righty has a 3.12 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his last eight innings pitched.
Nolan Arenado went yard for the fourth time on the season, an eighth inning two-run shot to secure a Cardinals’ 6-1 victory over Nationals. The Cuban-American third baseman saw his average rise to .270 on the campaign.
Yennier Cano pitched a scoreless inning in which he fanned two of the three batters he faced to do his part in Baltimore’s 7-3 triumph over the Angels. The hurler has now struck out 14 in 13⅓ games on the season.
