JC Escarra swatted three hits in four trips to the plate which drove in run via a second inning double and a crucial eighth inning single to seal a Yankees 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies. The Cuban-American catcher is now hitting a scorching .375 over his last seven games.
Although it was his only hit in five at-bats, Yandy Díaz laced a fifth inning run-scoring double and knocked another run via a seventh inning ground out to do his part in Tampa’s 13-0 blanking of Toronto. The slugger has now driven in 29 runs on the campaign.
Miguel Vargas went yard for the seventh time on the season a seventh inning solo-shot and also scored twice, but Chicago still fell to Texas 5-4. The Cuban infielder has now driven in 23 runs on the season. Vargas also scored twice on the evening.
