Luis Avilés collected two hits in four trips to the plate including a fourth inning homerun in the Rieleros 5-3 loss to the Sultanes de Monterrey, his third on the season. The Cuban slugger has now gone yard three times and saw his average rise to .318 on the season.
Yoán López tossed a scoreless inning in which he fanned a batter to secure Unión Laguna’s 5-4 win over the Tecolotes de Dos Laredos in the second game of their doubleheader. For the right-hander it was his 16th save and also saw his ERA descend to 4.26 on the campaign.
Although he finished with a no-decision Yoanner Negrín was unhittable yesterday against Querétaro. The righty threw seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball in which he fanned eight batters in Yucatán’s 5-3 loss to the Conspiradores. Negrín now sports a 4.04 earned run average on the season.
