Zach Neto homers, but the Angels fall to Detroit. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Zach Neto swatted his 17th homerun of the season, a solo-shot in the fifth inning in four trips to the plate of the Angels 6-5 loss to the Tigers. The Cuban-American shortstop watched his average fall to .267 and is three homers short of reaching the 20-20 mark for the second straight season.

In his three big league seasons Neto has slugged 49 homers, stolen 56 bases and sports a slash line of .249/.316/.434/.750 over that stretch. The infielder looks to be a cornerstone for the team for years to come. Although there hasn’t been any contact with Neto, Cuba is very interested in his services for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Yennier Cano notched his 16th hold of the season after tossing an inning in which he gave up two hits and a run during the Orioles 3-2 victory over the Athletics. The right-hander from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba has 81 holds to lead all pitchers over the last three seasons. Cano has been the team’s most versatile reliever from 2023 to 2025.
