Yandy Díaz went yard for the 22nd time on the season to tie a career-high and also scored a run to do his part in the Rays 9-0 blanking of Cleveland. The infielder from Sagua la Grande, Cuba now hits a solid .280 on the campaign.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr swatted his 19th homerun of the season in the trips to the plate during the DBacks 7-5 loss to Brewers. The Cuban slugger has now driven in 80 runs to lead all his countrymen in MLB in that statistical category and saw his average rise to .250 on the season.
Zach Neto hit his 22nd longball of the season during the Angels’ 4-0 shutout of the Rangers. The Cuban-American shortstop saw his average rise to .266 and has now driven in 56 runs on the campaign.
Andy Pagés homered twice and drove in four runs to pace the Dodgers’ offense in their 7-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The outfielder is now second amongst Cubans with 23 homeruns on the season.
