Aroldis Chapman notched his 29th save of the season after fanning four batters in a scoreless inning of relief to secure Boston’s 7-4 win over Arizona. The left-hander became the second Cuban in MLB history to strike out four in an inning, Mike Cuellar was the other in 1970.
On the season the flamethrowing southpaw now sports a sterling 0.98 earned run average on the campaign and also has 364 saves for his career. Chapman is one save from his ninth 30 save season in the majors.
Randy Arozarena collected two hits in four trips to the plate, while also driving in runs via singles in the third and ninth innings to do his part during Seattle’s 18-2 thrashing of the Braves. The outfielder also scored twice on the day and has now driven in 69 runs on the season.
