Carlos Rodón has successful elbow surgery.

Carlos Rodón underwent left elbow surgery on Wednesday to remove loose bodies and a bone spur, and he is expected to miss the start of the 2026 season. The surgery will likely delay the start of his 2026 season.

The procedure includes an eight-week shutdown from throwing which will last until mid-December. This will delay the start of his offseason program and could push his return to the Yankees rotation to sometime in April or early May of next season.

“When you build in all the ramp-up and the throwing program and getting him ready to be a starting pitcher, that probably delays him potentially a couple of weeks to start the season,” Boone said at Thursday’s news conference at Yankee Stadium.

Rodón (4.6 WAR) was the most dominant starter this season of Cuban heritage. The left-hander was second in the American League with 18 wins, first among latinos. The flamethrowing southpaw also fanned 203 batters in 195⅓ innings pitched on the season and also posted a solid 3.09 earned run average on the season.
