Julio Pablo Martínez slugged his 13th homerun of the season, a solo-shot in the first inning of the Tomateros de Culiacán’s 10-8 win over Jaguares de Nayarit. The outfielder from Guantánamo, Cuba has now driven in 36 runs on the season in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico.
Orlando Martínez also got in on the act for Culiacán with his own longball, his ninth homerun of the season in the ninth inning. The Cuban slugger also knocked in a run with a double in the third inning and saw his average rise to .318 on the season.
Also in México Victor Labrada drove in a run via a single in the second inning of the Algodoneros de Guasave’s 3-2 win over the Tucson Baseball Team. Labrada saw his average rise to .224 and has now knocked in four runs on the season.
Lázaro Alonso went yard for the seventh time on the season in five trips to the plate to do his part in the Gigantes de Rivas 9-4 win in the Nicaraguan Winter League Round Robin. The infielder has now also knocked in 26 runs on the campaign and Rivas now sports a 3-2 record in the playoffs.
