Right-hander Denny Larrondo is scheduled to start for Cuba in their next game of the World Baseball Classic against Colombia this Sunday at noon. Larrondo will be followed by Yariel Rodríguez, Emmanuel Chapman, Darién Núñez, Yoán López, and Raidel Martínez in that game, according to my source.
Although the Cuban Baseball Federation has announced its lineup against Colombian starter Luis Patiño on Sunday it will be a similar one to the one that faced Panamá yesterday, only some of the hitters have been inverted in the order. Expect Yoán Moncada, Yoelkis Guibert and Ariel Martínez to be key bats once again in the upcoming game.
Patiño, who will toe the rubber as well this Sunday against Cuba in the Cuban team’s second game of the tournament is a former major leaguer who pitched for the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago White Sox on the grand stage. In four big league seasons he posted a 7-6 record and 5.02 earned run average.
