Yordan Álvarez went yard for the fourth time on the season, a two-run homer in the fifth inning and his only hit in four at-bats during the Astros’ 12-10 loss to the Athletics. The slugger has now driven in 10 and hits .400 on the early season.
Jorge Soler swatted two hits in four trips to the dish driving in two runs via singles in the first and third inning singles to lead the Angels to a 8-7 win over the Mariners. The outfielder has now driven in eight runs on the year.
Miguel Vargas laced a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the first to get the scoring started in the Chicago White Sox’s 3-0 blanking of the Toronto Bluejays. For the infielder it was his only hit in four trips to the plate. Vargas also saw his average fall to .276 and now has seven RBIs on the campaign.
Adolis García collected two hits in four at-bats including a second inning solo-shot, his second longball on the season during Philadelphia’s 4-1 los at the hands of the Colorado Rockies. A change of scenery had done “El Bombi” some good because the outfielder is hitting a solid .294 to start the season.
