Julio Robaina returns to the MLB system after officially signing a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves today. The Artemisa,Cuba native was putting together an excellent season in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol with Quintana Roo.
In 18 ⅓ the left-hander had a record of 2-0, 1.47 ERA and opponents hit , .185 against him. The hurler also had an 0.93 WHIPand 15 strikeouts over that span. Miguel Rodríguez Hernández of our sister page Pelota Cubana was the first to report the signing.
This winter the ex-Astros’ prospect pitched in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico with the Algodoneros de Guasave posting a 0-2 record and a 10.80 earned run average over five starts with the Aztec squad. Robaina was Cuba’s No. 3 starter in the 2026 WBC.
The Cuban will begin his season at Columbus, the Braves’ Double-A affiliate and could earn a major league spot with a good showing in the minors. In his six minor league seasons in the Houston Astros organization he had a 23-27 and 4.49 ERA in 108 games on the, including 59 starts.
