After the first game between the Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves, Victor Mederos was called up to the Major Leagues. Over 21.1 innings with the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate this season, he has posted a 2.53 ERA, a 4.37 FIP, 8.02 strikeouts per nine innings, and 4.22 walks per nine innings as well.
The 24-year-old pitcher has previously reached the Major Leagues with the Los Angeles Angels, but has been unable to stick there permanently and was constantly shuttled between Triple-A and the big leagues. In his time with the team from tinsel town he sported a 7.90 earned run average.
Atlanta originally acquired Mederos in a trade with the Angels, sending cash considerations in exchange for the right-handed pitcher. During last night’s game Mederos tossed two scoreless innings in his return to the big leagues with the Atlanta Braves by tossing two scoreless innings in the team’s 9-1 victory over the Miami Marlins.
