EXCLUSIVE: The Cuban Federation is already presenting contracts to Under-18 players that could obligate them to pay up to $10 million.

Documents obtained exclusively by Pelota Cubana USA reveal that the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS) is already presenting agreements to Under-18 players and their parents or legal guardians in which the organization itself values the athlete’s so-called “Training Rights” at $10 million USD.

👉🏻 The document is already being presented to families of Under-18 players.

👉🏻 The FCBS values the athlete’s “Training Rights” at USD $10,000,000.

👉🏻 Parents could be held responsible for potential compensation payments.

👉🏻 The athlete would assume that responsibility upon reaching legal adulthood.

👉🏻 The Federation requires recognition as the player’s agent for future professional negotiations.

👉🏻 The agreement includes confidentiality clauses.

According to the document, if a player leaves a national team training camp or national team roster, interrupts his development in Cuba to continue it abroad with the goal of entering professional baseball, or violates the agreement without FCBS authorization, the Federation could seek compensation equivalent to those training rights.

The document also states that the FCBS will be recognized as the athlete’s agent for future negotiations with professional organizations and may even delegate those responsibilities to third parties.

The measure comes at a time when an increasing number of young Cuban talents are seeking opportunities outside the island to develop their careers, resulting in a steady exodus of players from the state-run sports system.

The documents obtained by our sister page Pelota Cubana USA reveal what appears to be one of the most aggressive efforts to date by Cuban sports authorities to maintain control over the professional future of athletes who are still minors.
