Matanzas native Guillermo Heredia completed his fourth consecutive season with the SSG Landers in South Korea’s professional baseball league in 2026. His overall performance arguably made this his second-best KBO campaign, trailing only his 2024 season, when he won the batting title.
Heredia appeared in 115 games—79.9% of his team’s schedule—and hit .283 (127-for-449), marking his first KBO season below .300. The outfielder, who represented Cuba in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, scored 56 runs and drove in 98, finishing just two RBIs shy of the century mark.
Guillermo Heredia led the SSG Landers’ offense in 2026
Heredia ranked ninth in the KBO in RBIs and led the Landers in that category. He spent the first half of the season contending for the league lead, but an injury sidelined him from mid-July through late August, hurting his chances of finishing on top.
He collected 45 extra-base hits: 25 doubles, two triples and 18 home runs. On the bases, however, he had his least productive KBO season, succeeding on just two of seven stolen-base attempts for a 28.6% success rate.
The 2021 World Series champion with the Atlanta Braves drew 29 walks and struck out 78 times, finishing with 210 total bases and seven sacrifice flies. He hit an excellent .329 with runners in scoring position and posted a .338 on-base percentage, .468 slugging percentage and .806 OPS.
Heredia recorded 36 multihit games in 2026: one in March, seven in April, nine in May, seven in June, two apiece in July and August, five in September and three in October. He did not have a multihomer game. His season high of four RBIs came twice: June 21 against the NC Dinos and July 2 against the Kia Tigers.
The Landers missed the postseason after finishing sixth in the regular season with a 65–74 record and five ties.
