The Boston Redsox were unable to get Yandy Díaz out last night as the Rays third baseman was perfect in three trips to the plate and went yard during one of those at-bats to lead Tampa to an 7-2 victory over Boston. The muscular Cuban drove a run, scored on three occasions and upped his average to .303 on the young campaign. In 33 at-bats Díaz is now slashing .425/.606/1.031 on the season.
José Barrero hit a first homerun of the year a 425 foot two-run blast in the eighth of the Cincinnat Reds loss to the San Diego Padres 7-6. The young infielder in total knocked in three runs on the night and watched his batting average ascend to .238 on the year. After a rough start to the season the shortstop from Havana is hitting .294 in his last seven games.

Yuli Gurriel continues to earn his keep in the Marlins’ lineup , a night after hitting his first longball as a member of the fish the infielder had a two-for-five evening all while driving in a run to help pace the team from Little Havana to a 8-4 victory over the Phillies. “The Piña” as he is known by the Cuban faithful is nursing five game hit streak and is hitting .389 in the month of April.
Jorge Soler and Nick Fortes also joined in the act by driving in a run each to also help the cause of the Miamians, who are now 4-3 in their last seven games. Fortes and Soler saw there averages fall to .160 and .190 respectively on the season.
Luis Robert continues to swing a hot bat to start the season. Last night the outfielder went yard, knocked in a run and scored two times in the Chisox’s loss to Minnesota 4-3. “The Panther ” as he is nicknamed has now swatted five dingers and driven in 11 runs on the year.
