Yandy Díaz launched his fourth homerun of the season in the bottom of the first inning, drove in a run and scored on another occasion to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 9-3 victory over Boston. The native of Villa Clara, Cuba also knocked it his ninth run of the season and is now hitting .289 in the month of April.
Randy Arozarena also got into the act with a run scoring single in the bottom of the fifth and scored a run for the Floridians, who are now 13-0 on the season are the only undefeated team in the big leagues. The Cuban outfielder has gone yard twice and driven in 10 runs in the last seven games.
José Barrero smacked a run scoring double in the bottom of the fifth and scored a run to do his part in Cincinnati’s 6-2 triumph over the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies. The shortstop who got off to a rough start this season has driven in five runs and is slugging .417 this month.
Cuban-American Nick Castellanos knocked in a run in his four at-bats for the Phillies in defeat and watched his average drop to .292 on the young campaign. The Miamian is tied for the league lead with eight doubles. Castellanos has hit 30 more doubles in six of his 11 seasons on the grand stage.
