Andy Ibáñez continues to rake in Toledo’s victory (+MiLB Report)

Andy Ibáñez homered and doubled in his four at-bats, drove in two and scored on two occasions to lead Toledo to an 8-7 victory over Louisville . Ibáñez has now mashed five homers in a start to the season to go with a .326 batting average and 15 RBIs to start the season. The Cuban infielder might just be on the cusp of an MLB callup.


Julio Pablo continues to be an unstoppable force at the plate, in yesterday’s action the native of Guantánamo, Cuba homered in three visits to the plate and is now flashes a sterling .387 batting average on the campaign. For the outfielder it was his second roundtripper of the season and Round Rock drubbed Tacoma 7-1. Martínez might be on the brink of an MLB callup as well.

In Double A Andy Pagés hit a pair of long home runs in the Tulsa Drillers’ 6-1 win over the Midland. The slugger from Pinar del Río went 3-4 on that night also swatting a double, driving in four runs and drawing a walk. After seven games on the year his average stands at .429 and he is slashing a robust .594/.857/1.451.

In Advanced A Yiddi Cappe went yard for the second night in a row, smacked a double and drove in four runs to aid Beloit in their triumph over South Bend 10-8. The prized prospect watched his average soar to .333 and now sports an OPS of 1.074 on the season.

In A ball Michel Triana connected on two hits in four trips to the plate, while also knocking in a run via a sixth inning triple in Daytona’s 8-3 loss to Palm Beach. “El Animal ” as he was nicknamed by the Cuban faithful raised his average to .217 on the season and also drove in his sixth run of the young campaign
