The hard throwing right from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba becomes the 21st Cuban to see action this season and could settle into an important role in the Orioles bullpen by season’s end.
Johan Oviedo had his second consecutive quality start of the season, yet this time he ended up in the losers’ column. The righty from Havana hurled seven innings where he only gave a run on six hits and fanned 10 batters. The flamethrower now sports an earned run average of 2.45 on the campaign and his last 13 ⅔ innings has only surrendered one earned run.

Adolis García went yard for the third time on the season, drove in two runs and scored on another occasion to lead Texas to a 6-2 win over the Astros. Although the outfielder is only hitting .216, García leads the Rangers with 13 runs driven in on the campaign. Yordan Álvarez smacked his fourth longball of the season in defeat and also drove in his 17th run of the season. The Cuban giant has now knocked in eight runs in his last seven games.
Nick Castellanos knocked in a run with his league leading ninth double in a three round third inning that was pivotal in Philadelphia’s 8-3 victory over the Cincinnat Reds. The Cuban-American also scored on an occasion and saw his average jump to .308 on the young campaign. Castellanos looks more comfortable at the plate in second season in the city of brotherly love.
