Andy Ibáñez knocks in three runs in Mudhens victory over Louisville (+Cuban MiLB Report)

Andy Ibáñez homered in three at-bats, knocked three runs and scored twice to pace the Toledo Mudhens to a 13-6 victory over the Louisville Bats. The infielder saw his average jump to .308 on the young campaign. Ibáñez is staking his claim to earn and MLB callup with his early season performance.

Last month, the Isle of Youth native joined the ranks of the Cuban team in the World Baseball Classic but was only able to play in the semifinal match against the United States due to an injury. Ibáñez was in the majors the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers.

In Double A Edgar Quero, the Angels #3 ranked prospects went 2 for 4, with two doubles, scored four times and drove in three runs in Rocket City’s 13-3 shalacking of the Birmingham Barons. Quero raised his average to .300 after five games, he has also driven in six runs during that span.

In Advanced A ball Yiddi Cappe went yard for the first time on the season, a two run jack in the fifth inning and scored on two other occasions to lead Beloit to 9-1 win to South Bend. The Cuban infielder is now hitting a robust .318 on the season.

In A ball shortstop Leosdani Molina swatted two doubles in three trips to the plate and drove in three runs to pace the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in their drubbing of the Fredericksburg Nationals. Molina who was struggling at the plate barely pulled his average over the Mendoza line and knocked in his first three runs of the season last night.
