Roenis Elías hurls a gem in Iowa’s win ( +Cuban MiLB Report)

Roenis Elías won his first game of the year after hurling 6⅓ innings where he gave up two runs on a hit and fanned two to watch his ERA fall to 5.28 on the campaign. After a rough start to the season Elías seems to be settling down on the mound, especially after such a dominant performance. In Double AA Diosbel Arias went yard for the second consecutive night. For the first baseman from Artemisa, Cuba it was his only hit on the night in three trips to the plate, while still managing to drive in a run and also score in Frisco’s 9-0 lead in a game suspended in the fifth due to inclement weather. The contest will be continued today, while Arias now has two jacks and an OPS of .896 on the season.

In A Ball Rafael Sánchez was dominant in Dunedin’s 2-0 victory over Palm Beach yesterday in A ball. The 23 year old righty hurled seven innings where he only gave up four hits while striking out five to secure his first victory of the campaign. Sánchez now sports a shining 1.40 ERA on the season.

His countrymen Lázaro Estrada closed the show with a dominant six out save in which he K’d one batter, for the Cuban it was also his first save of the season.
