Cubans continue shine in the Japanese minors. (+Asian League Report)

Yoan López keeps shining on the mound with the Yomiuri Giants in the minors, as do other Cubans. In yesterday’s game the right-hander from the Isle of Youth pitched in 8th inning where he fanned two of the three batters in Yomiuri’s 6-0 shutout of the DeNa Baystars. In four innings with the Giants’ second club this season has yet to give up a run and struck to batters.

Dayán Viciedo went 3-for-4 and scored twice in Chunichi’s 8-4 over the minor league team of the Orix Buffaloes. In seven games with the Dragons’ second squad Viciedo is hitting a robust .416 on the season. Expect Viciedo to rejoin the first club in early May.

Guillermo García also saw action in the game for Chunichi as a pinch-hitter striking out in his only at-bat on the evening. In 11 games in the second circuit this season García is hitting .323 with two doubles, a homer, four runs batted in and is slashing .394/.500/.894. The outfielder might be seeing some action with the big club in the near future.
