After a little delay in his incorporation with the team due to an incident during the World Baseball Classic where his travel documents were stolen, Roel Santos finally made his debut with the Olmecas de Tabasco of the Mexican League last night.
Due to the incident Santos reported to the team in late March and took a little bit of time to get into game shape. On the evening the native of Niquero, Cuba went 0-for-4 and Tabasco dropped the contest 2-1 to Veracruz. The outfielder hit a robust .411 for the team last season and was a sparkplug for the offense from the leadoff spot.
Although he is hitting a paltry .172 on the season Félix Pérez drove in a run via a second inning single in Tijuana’s 7-6 defeat at the hands of Durango. The reigning league MVP is third in aztec circuit with eight runs batted in on the season.
