JC Escarra went yard for the first time on the season and knocked in a run in his five at-bats to aid Gastonia in their 8-6 victory over Frederick on the early season. The Cuban-American backstop has driven in four runs in two games with his new ball club.
The native of Miami who was a key acquisition for the team in the offseason has paid off so far during the early campaign.
Although Jorge Martínez hurled a solid five innings where he gave up three earned runs, seven hits and struck out five in York still fell to Lexington 6-3. Alejandro Rivero had a hit in three at-bats with a base on ball and is now hitting .500 on the season.
