Prized prospect Frank Abel Álvarez made his season debut with the Chunichi Dragons’ minor league squad after an extended Japanese version of Spring Training. The righty faced two batters and gave up a longball to Shoichi Futamata in Chunichi’s 9-1 loss to Hiroshima.
Dayán Viciedo knocked the only run for the Chunichi in the contest. In 10 games with the Dragons the slugger from Villa Clara, Cuba is hitting .333 and has driven in six runs.

Yoan López had an interesting outing in relief this morning. The flamethrowing right-hander pitched an inning where he struck out the side in-between giving up a hit, a run and walking two in Yomiuri’s 7-1 win over Nippon-Ham. In 6 games in the minors with the Giants López has a 7.50 earned run average.
Although he smacked two hits in three at-bats Guillermo Heredia could not prevent a Doosan 2-0 blanking of defending champion SSG in the KBO. Heredia is second amongst foreign players in Korea with a .351 average.
