Alejandro Rivero drives in two in York’s victory (+Independent League Report)

Alejandro Rivero drove in two runs via a single in the first inning and a hit by a pitch in seventh inning to account for two of the three runs York scored in the 3-2 victory over Lexington. The Matanzas, Cuba native has had a torrid start to the season hitting a robust .444 and has knocked in two runs in three games.

Adeiny Hechavarria was a key cog in Long Island’s 5-2 triumph over Highpoint. The ex-big leaguer collected his first two hits of the season, which both went for extra bases during his five trips to the plate and scored twice. The shortstop watched his average jump to .154 on the young.

JC Escarra continues to hit the cover off the ball for the Gastonia Honey Hunters. Last night the Cuban-American drove in two runs and swatted three hits in The North Carolinans 7-4 win over Frederick. Gastonia is 3-0 and Escarra with his six runs batted in have been big reason for the team’s hot start.
