Yanio Luis Pérez once a prized prospect when he signed with the Texas Rangers in 2016 for the of 1.1 million dollars. But inconsistent play and injuries derailed his way to the majors. In 292 games on the farm with Texas he hit .261 with 25 homers and 134 runs batted in.
The slugger was finally released by ball club in 2019 and has since bounced around in Independent ball. For the 2023 season he will return to the American Association and the Lincoln Saltdogs, where he hit .289 with seven longballs. Pérez is looking to generate interests in his services from a foreign league with a good showing in the American Association.
JC Escarra continues to hit consistently the ball. In last night’s game the Cuban-American slugger banged out a hit and scored a run in his four at-bats. Gastonia fell on the night to Southern Maryland but Escarra is now hitting a robust .360.
