Jorge Soler has been on a tear at the plate lately, especially when it comes to the longball. Last night the Cuban slugger homered for the fourth game in a row and the 150th time in his career to lead the Marlins to a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Yuli Gurriel also collected his 900th hit on the evening with a single in the second inning.
The outfielder also drove in and scored a run on the day. Soler who has been mashing opposing pitching in the recent days has five homers, nine runs batted in and is hitting .406 over that span. Nick Fortes also got in the act knocking in a run and collecting two hit in five trips to the plate.
Yandy Díaz continues to slaughter major league pitching this season. In yesterday’s game the native of Villa Clara, Cuba swatted three extra base hits, a double and roundtripper. The infielder also drove in two runs and scored twice to be the difference in Tampa’s 9-3 thrashing of the Dodgers. For Díaz it was the 12th ball he has deposited in the seats and is hitting a robust .333 on the season.
At this point @solerpower12 homering should be a scheduled tweet. pic.twitter.com/L5CzstilV2
