Yordan Álvarez homers in Houston’s win. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Yordan Álvarez launched his 16th roundtripper and drove in two runs to lead Houston’s offense in their 11-4 thrashing of the Toronto Blue Jays. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba leads all of Major League Baseball with 53 RBIs and is third in the circuit with an OPS of .973.

Although he didn’t factor in the decision John Oviedo in Pittsburgh’s 5-4 win over Oakland the righty had his sixth quality start of the season after only allowing two earned runs via four hits and striking out five to see his ERA fall to 4.29 on the campaign. For Oakland Aledmys Díaz knocked in a run as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning that broke a slump that saw him hitting .100 in his last seven games.

Nick Castellanos continues to have a great season at the plate. In tonight’s action the slugger from Miami collected two hits, drove in a run and scored on another occasion in Philly’s 8-3 victory over Detroit. The outfielder who third in the majors with 20 doubles is also hitting a robust .464 in his last seven games.
