Elian Leyva was once again masterful on the mound in CPBL. In today’s game the right-hander from Mayabeque, Cuba tossed seven innings where he gave up one run via five hits and also fanned eight in Rakuten’s 2-1 win over the Wei-Chuan Dragons.

The hurler won his third game on the campaign and also saw his earned run average descend to 2.95 on the season. In 42.2 IP this season Leyva has struck 37 and sports a sterling 1.20 WHIP.

In the NPB Raidel Martínez recorded his 14th save of the season after striking out two of the three batters he faced in an inning of relief in the Chunichi Dragons’ 2-1 win over the Seibu Lions at Omiya Stadium .

Ariel Martinez was hit by a pitch in his only plate appearance and had to be pulled from the game in the Nippon Ham Fighters’ 3-2 loss to the Hiroshima Carpas at Es Con Field in Hokkaido. His average remained at .246 on the season.

In the KBO Roenis Elías pitched seven innings where he allowed five hits, an earned and retired six via the strikeout. SSG defeated Kia 2-1 and the lefty won his second game on the campaign. Elías’ ERA descended to 1.29.
