Yandy Díaz takes AL in batting average, but Tampa falls to Seattle. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Yandy Díaz collected two hits and scored on an occasion, but his efforts couldn’t prevent the raise from falling at the hands of Seattle 8-3. The first baseman from Villa Clara, Cuba now leads the American League in batting average (.319) and is also second in the junior circuit in OPS (.917)

Yennier Canó continues to have an immaculate season. In last night’s game the Cuban righty tossed a scoreless ninth inning where he fanned two of the three batters he and although Baltimore fell to Minnesota 1-0, Cano saw his ERA fall to 1.12. In 40 ⅓ innings pitched the flamethrowing Cuban sports a WHIP of 0.84.

Nick Castellanos went yard for the 11th on the season and knocked in three to do his part in Philly’s 19-4 thrashing of Washington. The Cuban-American slugger with his .314 batting average and 52 runs batted in is making a good case for an All-Star berth as a reserve this season.
