Yandy Díaz enters the All-Star Game on a tear. The Cuban first baseman who is hitting .375 in the last seven games knocked in four runs and went yard in the fourth inning to lead Tampa in their 10-4 win over the Braves. Díaz and his .323 batting average lead the American League at mid-season.
Randy Arozarena also helped the cause for the Rays with two hits in the three trips to the plate and also scored on two occasions. The outfielder who will start the All-Star Game and will compete in the Homerun Derby enter the mid-summer classic hitting .279.
Although Luis Robert drove in a run via a sac fly in the 8th inning and scored on an occasion, his best efforts were not enough to avoid a Whitesox’s defeat at the hands of St. Louis 4-3. The outfielder enters the All-Star Game leading al Cubans in MLB with 26 longballs.
